Week Fourteen : The end isn't near, it's here

I can't believe the end is here.  Once I've finished this post, I'll be done all of the coursework for my MLIS.  I guess I should get it over with.  I've left a discussion of best practices and how I think social software can be best used in libraries until last, but I've been thinking about it all semester, with each week's topic.

Week Thirteen : How Social do I feel?

This week, I'm going to look at the more personal reflection aspects of these final weeks, mostly because the majority of my free time is going to finishing the project, and I'd like to do a discussion of social software in libraries and best practices justice.

Week Twelve : Sharing is Good for You

I liked the readings this week, because they reminded me that YouTube IS a social networking site.  I admit that I have used it in a mostly web 1.0 way - as a consumer - so far, anyway.

Week Ten : Be Social online!

I've been waiting for this week.  I think this is the only topic I was really familiar with before this course started.  And I've been working with my group for the project on this topic, too, so I've been immersed in social networks for the last few weeks.

Week Eight : Folksono-what?

Ah - I feel refreshed from my blog holiday, and ready to talk about folksonomies.  I think, as I assume I'm supposed to, that looking at folksonomies flows directly from the discussion of social tagging.  I started a Del.i.cious account at the start of the course, and have really enjoyed using it - especially as I browse websites at work and home - no more emailing myself long lists of links so they're "favourited" on my home PC too.

Week Seven : Blog Holiday

Until next week.

Week Six : Wikilicious

I have worked with and heard more about wikis in the last few weeks than I did in the last few years.  We have a wiki at work for our project team, I've been working on one with my group for this course, and of course, doing the readings and boning up on the pros and cons of wikis.

Week Five : Another look at RSS

Once again this week, I was confronted with how great RSS has the potential to be, and how (relatively, given the number of internet users) few people seem to be using it.

I have learned a lot about RSS in the last two weeks, expanding on what I'd already figured out from using feeds in IE7.  I think the most important bits of information I've gleaned are:
