Best in Show
So we've really reached the end this week!
Last week I focused on best practices in general, and I personally concluded that any of the things we studied could be conceived as "best" depending on how well it's used and maintained and how well it's promoted. As many others have noted in their blogs, it's about justifying the need to implement social software and not doing it simply for the sake of being hip and cool.
This week, I want to focus on my personal evaluation of social software in my life.
"If a tree falls in the forest..."
I really can't believe that it has been a whole term; it's really flown by! This week I'll discuss best practices, and next week I'll focus on personal experiences.
YouTube Killed the MTV Star
I think this is a great last topic for the "content" weeks of this course; YouTube is probably one of those websites that most people know about and associate with the new Web 2.0 wave that we're riding. We all know about amazing videos that have become Internet sensations thanks to YouTube: Where the Hell is Matt, the Evolution of Dance, and Bridezilla are just a few!
"Absolutely everything was the same...except I could fly"
I've really enjoyed this week, actually. I've been a gamer as long as I can remember, mainly with home consoles (NES, GameBoy Colour, GameCube, DS, and Wii are all systems that I've had in my house at one point or another! Clearly a Nintendo girl!), and a little PC gaming, too. I vividly remember my first exposure to the Sims and the instant addiction I felt!
Panic! at the Facebook
I could not help but chuckle a little at quite a few of the articles this week. Some of them seem to be written from an adult/scientific perspective. It calls to mind an image of a crazed scientist holding Facebook out at arm's length, disgusted, and carefully placing it under a microscope to have a closer look at it. I can just imagine: "WOW! Look at all of those young people gathering around Facebook! I must observe them!"
The Chronicles of a Newbie Wikipedian
Hi guys!
For my final project, I'm going to be editing Wikipedia articles! I'm super excited!
Blogging Off!
Taking my second holiday this week...enjoy discussing folksonomies!
(Answer to my last blog holiday puzzler: yes, it WAS "It's a Holiday in Cambodia"!)
Tag, You're It!
Wow, this week has really hit home for me...I had started writing an epic blog posting when I accidently hit the "delete!" button and lost the whole thing!! I'll try to shorten what I originally had, since it really was quite long! Like I said, this week's topic is really interesting for me, and I didn't realize it would be until I did the readings and looked at some of the blogs from everyone else. Lee Rainie's article really jump-started my thinking for this week.

Something Wiki This Way Comes...
Being a part of the wiki group has really given me insight into how a basic wiki works. Look forward to my second blog posting tomorrow on behalf of my group, and enjoy our wiki!
