Week 8: Folksonomies
On to week 8! This week we're taking a closer look at folksonomies, which builds directly on last week's conversations around Social Bookmarking & Tagging. This week we look at the advantages and limitations of folksonomies & distributed classification, paying particular attention to how these trends impact libraries and library services (such as OPACs). All content for this week is right here.
Here are a couple of reminders for this week:
- Class chat reminder: we're meeting in this chat room on Wednesday, June 25th at 8pm. Here's hoping for an uneventful drive home so I can actually make it to the chat this week!
- The Student Council is doing their Mid-Term Feedback questionnaire this week. I've opted in for 9763 so you will be receiving a message from a Student Council rep requesting answers to a couple of questions. I'd appreciate it very much if you could take a few minutes to complete the survey. I take your feedback very seriously and usually try to implement changes where possible right away, so if you have any comments, general feedback, and/or suggestions for changes to the course, send them in!
- As you probably know, next week is reading week (June 30-July 4) , so no "class" for us!
