Introduction
Hi everyone! This is my first official blog post. I'm still not sure how I feel about blogging - part of me sees it as an invasion of privacy. But I guess as the author, I can control the content and level of access. I'm hoping this class will help me to adjust my ideas about blogs and privacy online. I'm also looking forward to finishing this class, my last one! I'll be out of school for the first time since I was five years old - and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm a fan of RSS feeds, but have never used an aggregator (though I'm looking forward to it).
I am working full-time this summer, and it looks like many of my evenings and weekends will be taken up with blogging-related activities, but I'm hoping to enjoy some of the cultural and other activities on deck in Toronto.

Hi Jaclyn - welcome to 9763! I'm definitely keen to see if/how your view of blogging evolves over the course of the term! If nothing else, you'll certainly be getting plenty of first-hand experience with it ;)
Hey Jaclyn, it'd be cool to have a little discussion about the issue of online privacy sometime. It sounds like we have similar ideas about it, but from the opposite end of the spectrum!
Me, I appreciate the fact that the Web takes away all privacy, and that it's very much akin to running around in the streets and yelling your thoughts to everyone. heh I also (on some level) appreciate the "Internet tough guy" phenemenon, where people are more honest about their opinions because they can develop personas online, though I'd much prefer people did it without the masks, of course. :)
Anyway, it'd be great to pick your brain a bit about the issues of privacy in the Web 2.0 world!

... in fact, I'm lying to you right now..."
Brent,
Thanks for your comments...I've been thinking more about privacy this week, and I think I will warm up to an online environment the more time I spend in one - but it would be great to chat about our curretnly opposing viewpoints...hopefully this course will provide a forum for that kind of discussion (and my fingers can type fast enough for my ideas)... ;)
