Media Sharing Group Project

The topic that we had for our group project was media sharing. There were many initial ideas of what we could do with this topic, including Greg's idea of Rainy Day at the library. This was decided as being to exclusive and might deter people from the library and we wanted to try and be as inclusive as possible. We eventually decided to use the media to try and promote the different things that the library has as well as to help increase the use of the library through these online media.

We decided it would be easier to split the media up between all the group members, since we wanted to focus on four different media it was the easiest way to split the work. Greg took photos of the library on Flikr, Brent created videos on YouTube, Dillon did a power point presentation and I did audio podcasts. It was thought that all of the media should be situated in one page that we could present to the public as our library.

For the audio podcasts, to fit with the idea of having online media for our patrons. Doing storytelling audio podcasts was a way to highlight the audio media and to show how the library could use this technology to interest patrons in the library. I had previously done a storytelling course and had some stories that I had already had prepared and knew. It was thought that not only having the stories for interested patrons to listen to but to also include some history of these stories in order to include some educational aspects to these podcasts. The two stories that I did were the Emperors New Clothes and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. I thought it was easiest to keep them in MP3 format and upload to our library wiki, in order to keep everything in a central spot.
