My experience

My personal experience with social software has been a new and exciting one. I am addicted to delicious (until this course my "favourites" took up half my screen).

I never thought I'd like blogging either. Personally, I found the idea of exposing my thoughts online for anyone to read or comment on frightening. There's no CONTROL. No PRIVACY.

And yet here I am. Happily blogging away, reading other peoples blogs, and searching for external blogs to read daily and comment on.

I am nearly a blogoholic.

Still, what I find most gratifying about blogging is creating the blog itself. I like the customization and personalization of blogs and the ease with which any user can create a nice template.

Recently I created an Evite for a friend's bachlorette party. For those of you not familiar with this, it's a site where you can customize (or choose) an invite, add the details, the recipients email address, and then sit back and wait and see who accepts or rejects the invitation and when they viewed it. There is also an area to post comments.

It has saved me tons of time and energy.

So has my RSS feed to CBC news.

As I have less and less time, I'm beginning to find these tools extremely helpful, if for nothing else, than to streamline my online behaviour into concise and purposeful ventures. Sometimes, it's just nice to go outside and play.

Hi Jane,

I agree with you that social software tools make life much easier and more streamlined, a real plus in today's busy world.

Thanks for the info on evite -- another great time-saving tool!
