Week One: First Blog Entry...Blast off!

I guess this is my big "hello" blog entry. To tell you all a little about myself, this is my final FIMS course and I'm currently working full-time in Ottawa at a strategic consulting firm as an Information Management Consultant.

Ottawa is a great city and I plan to be here for a long time to come.

Well, as I have read in other classmates' first blog entries, I'm also marginally familiar with Web 2.0 technology and phenomena and definitely interested in learning much more.

I was fortunate to have taken a class in my second semester at Western that involved some Web 2.0 content and my final project involved building a website that incorporated a blog and a wiki.

My previous co-op placement was also very interesting because it exposed me to many different government libraries. I was amazed at how many of them are either discussing the possibility of using web 2.0 technology or have already gotten the ball rolling.

I'm looking forward to this class a great deal and I think the forum we have here is perfect for discussion and collaboration and, of course, is entirely apt for the subject matter.
