Introduction

Hi everyone,

I’m just starting out in my second term here at FIMS and really excited to take this course! Other than following a few blogs of interest and an infrequently used facebook account, I have little experience using social software. Blogging is something I’ve been curious about for some time but have never taken that first step. This should be fun!

Salutations!

Welcome to my first foray into blogging, an activity that I have, prior until now, avoided.

Unless you count the time I tried on MSN Spaces; exactly how long did that forum last, again?

Introduction

Hi everyone!  This is my first official blog post.  I'm still not sure how I feel about blogging - part of me sees it as an invasion of privacy.  But I guess as the author, I can control the content and level of access.  I'm hoping this class will help me to adjust my ideas about blogs and privacy online.  I'm also looking forward to finishing this class, my last one!  I'll be out of school for the first time since I was five years old - and I'm really looking forward to it.  I'm a fan of RSS feeds, but have never used an aggregator (though I'm looking forward to it).

The purpose of this course is to explore social software

Welcome!

This is the course site for LIS 9763 (formerly 757), offered in the Summer 2008 term at the Faculty of Information and Media Studies at the University of Western Ontario. This is our primary course space -- all information about the course, the syllabus, the readings, the weekly posts, class blogs -- it all happens right here!
